Leonnie Marie Campbell | Attorney-At-Law
The Land Registration and Conveyancing workshop has been a life changing experience for me in the practice of land law and to a lesser extent probate and administration.
I started my law practice with very little experience but loads of enthusiasm but increasingly I felt my confidence eroding when I discovered how very little law school had prepared me for actual practice.
After six weeks of intense learning I can boldly ply my trade and practice my skills like a competent attorney.
Thanks to the NLA team, from the security guard that greeted me every day with a smile, to the facilitators, the presenters, the attorneys, the rest of the staff and the people that served up the daily snacks, a resounding thank you!!
God bless you NLA team!!!

At My Power Living Ltd, we invest heavily in real estate education. We believe in preparing our team to better serve the next generation of real estate buyers, sellers and investors. Over the years, we have discovered that dealing with land matters in Jamaica is like moving a delicate body with many parts. Each part, though important, doesn't necessarily understand how the other works. Yet each part (agency or professional) is affected by what the other does. So as the person responsible for fixing problems in my company, I signed up for the National Land Agency's workshop.
The lecturers and facilitators were very easy to work with. Their teaching styles were conversational and very interactive. This was not a series of presentations from books, the lecturers are actually in the field! They shared real experiences as well as applications they were working on.
My most memorable days were visiting the different departments and interacting with the thoughtful and kind support staff. I am walking away from this workshop better equipped to guide our clients with matters related to new titles, mortgages, caveats, transfers and many other land related applications. I also have a better appreciation for National Land Agency's review process and understand why documents are refused or rejected, even when submitted by top legal and financial firms.
It was a privilege and quite humbling to serve as valedictorian for my group. Their experience in conveyancing and body of work span years. A really fun and smart mix of professionals whose perspectives helped to bring the material to life.
I would only recommend this to professionals who can not afford for their businesses to fail. This is for team leaders who value their client's business and strive to deliver the best service and most relevant information. Don't rest on your titles, degrees or what you think you know. Facts can change but knowledge is true power living. Invest in yourself and your business!

I am so happy to have been a part of the 27th group of persons to do the Conveyancing workshop put on by the National Land Agency. This course is worth the wait and certainly one in which persons who deals with conveyancing matters should make an effort to attend. In addition, it would also be helpful to Attorneys-at-Law to assist them.
The team at the National Land Agency gave us a very comprehensive overview of the works carried out at the NLA and also gave us hands-on presentation. The areas covered were very interesting and will definitely assist us with our work in going forward. We now have a better understanding in how to prepare documents for lodgement at the NLA.
The presenters were knowledgeable and were able to deliver their presentation quite fluently. Introducing us to the different departments and helping us to understand what goes on in the departments was a very high point.
I enjoyed all the areas covered and some were very interesting such as adverse possession, how to bring the land under the Registration of Titles, re-registration and caveat.
I encourage the NLA to continue to offer this workshop and I am very happy and grateful to my organisation for allowing me the opportunity to attend.

The course was a real eye opener and I learned the extent the NLA will go to ensure the protection of the registered proprietor and those holding equitable interest in property. Great course.

The LR&CW was a refreshing experience.
As an assistant to the General Counsel of a commercial Bank, the process in conveyancing is new to me. However the information I have received from this workshop has given me the confidence to assist and conduct transactions for and on behalf of the company.
The fact that we also have persons we can contact at the NLA for assistance is beyond amazing, thereby improving the efficiency of the entire sector.
Land Registration and Conveyancing Workshop starts September 10, 2024
