Job Description: 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant posts within the Corporate Services Division, National Land Agency.


The successful candidates will report to the Operations Manager

Job Purpose:

To identify and provide for the timely scheduling and maintenance of the Agency’s facilities, grounds and their related support equipment.

Key Responsibility Areas:

Managing/Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assists with the review and documentation of policies and procedures
  • Ensures that staff of the Unit adhere to policies and procedures relating to their work, securing of building and equipment
  • Develops Work Plans for the Maintenance Unit and provides coordination among maintenance functions
  • Schedules/rosters work of support staff to ensure efficiency
  • Provides leadership through example  and sharing of knowledge and skills
  • Conducts performance appraisals in accordance with established guidelines
  • Assists with disaster preparedness and emergency operations
  • Assist with developing and implementing safety protocols for the Agency’s facilities
  • Prepares required reports and maintains appropriate records

Technical/Professional Responsibilities

  • Schedules and implements Preventative Maintenance Programs for all buildings and equipment
  • Effects minor repairs (including electrical, plumbing, carpentry) to office buildings and equipment
  • Ensure that the office grounds are maintained in a satisfactory condition
  • Provides the primary response for all emergencies relating to the building and equipment
  • Monitors and ensures that all buildings inspected and repaired in accordance within established Code and Regulations 
  • Monitors all maintenance-related work being performed by outside contractors.
  • Performs basic energy management upgrades and retrofits
  • Performs energy audits periodically
  • Ensures that safety practices are followed
  • Provides advisory assistance in regard to equipment and facility needs and conditions
  • Conducts training with maintenance personnel for maximum productivity
  • Maintains inventory controls for maintenance parts for cost effective operations
  • Maintains equipment, equipment warranties, and tool inventories
  • Directs employees in the use of safety equipment and procedures

Required Competencies:

The post-holder will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and Problem solving skills
  • Sound knowledge of plumbing, electrical installation and carpentry, building construction and maintenance 
  • Competence in the use of tools and machines used to effect minor repairs
  • Sound knowledge of safety procedures and standards
  • Working knowledge of relevant computer applications
  • Knowledge of Jamaican Building Code
  • Competent in the following areas: electrical, air conditioning, carpentry and plumbing
  • Knowledge of general electrical and mechanical repairs

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Building or Facility Maintenance/ Estate Management, Construction Management or equivalent qualifications
  • Specific training in air conditioning/plumbing/carpentry/electrical equipment from HEART/VTDI or similar entity would be a distinct asset 
  • Two (2) years related experience
  • Supervisory training would be an asset

Remuneration Package:

  • Salary Range: $1,493,340 - $1,608,301 p.a.

Please note: there is no travelling attached to the Maintenance Supervisor post
